Jazz Instrumental Audition Requirements:
On Primary Instrument*
Moderate to Up Tempo Standard Tune – improvise a solo
Ballad – Improvise a solo
Modal Tune -- improvise a solo
Blues – improvise a solo
Sight reading (to be given at the audition)
*If you double on other instruments at a high level of proficiency, bring them along and please be prepared to demonstrate your level of proficiency on them as well -- just something fast and slow to get an idea.
Please perform with a Play Along CD or arrange accompaniment by one or more members of a rhythm section
If you are a rhythm section instrument, bring a play along with a melodic track or bring along a soloist to demonstrate your accompaniment / comping / interaction etc.
Optional:
demonstrate ability to transpose at sight
provide links to online videos of performances
Also let us know if you specialize in any particular styles, fusion, funk, Latin, Bossa, etc.
