Founder and Music Director Douglas S. Hoppe has been performing as an instrumentalist and singer from an early age, and began conducting, composing, and improvising in High School. A Yale graduate, Doug has attended many of the finest conducting programs in the world and studied privately with several eminent teachers. He also has an MBA from Baruch College, and is a talented and capable leader of organizations off the podium as well.
Always a student, Doug wishes to share his extensive knowledge of music, the performing arts, and culture in general, with both performers and non-performers alike. Doug strongly believes that music and the performing arts are critical for the development, growth, and progress of both individuals and society, and that more people should participate and be exposed -- more often and on a regular basis -- to top quality music making. He created the Nassau Philharmonia and Long Island Philharmonia to share his and his colleagues' artistic visions with the public, and to provide a valuable and sustainable resource for musicians and music lovers in the area.
